Yesterday [a few months ago] I asked Mark a dangerous question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoes my hair look ok, Mark?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\u2019m in this weird in-between stage of having an actual hair style and growing it out. It\u2019s awkward. So I pulled the front sides of my hair back and twisted it into a messy little bun, and used a few bobby pins to keep it in place. There, I thought. A fun little messy half-bun that will cover some of the awkwardness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mark\u2019s response, \u201cThe sides are ok, but the back looks bad. It looks weird.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It really wasn\u2019t fair of me. I shouldn\u2019t ask unless I want his honest opinion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhy is it weird? What\u2019s so terrible about it?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt looks like a little kid did it. It just looks bad.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt can\u2019t look that bad.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt does.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSheesh, you could sugar coat it a little.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I proceeded to fume for about 20 minutes while we kept getting ready for church. I ended up going back upstairs right before leaving and speed-straightening my hair so I could get by wearing it down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By the time we were in the car Mark finally noticed the grump all over my face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWait, you\u2019re mad at me? What\u2019s wrong?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNothing. I\u2019m fine.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI know that\u2019s not true. Just tell me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m fine. I don\u2019t wanna talk about it. Just let it go, Mark.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, so there\u2019s an ‘It’ to let go of.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fast-forward a few minutes to me finally explaining my frustration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI just don\u2019t understand how it could even have been that horrible. Like, it was supposed to look a little messy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt looked bad! I thought you\u2019d want to know!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt did not look THAT bad!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI was hoping to save you from embarrassment. If I hadn\u2019t said something, other people would have, or would at least be thinking it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAre you serious? People care THAT much about my hair?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLook, you just don\u2019t have much practice. It\u2019s not your fault.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe only reason you care is cause you\u2019re a design snob!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s not it. It looked weird, and I thought you would want to know!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo basically I just suck.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHOW did you even get to that? Just cause you don\u2019t know how to do hair it doesn\u2019t mean you suck!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWHATEVER.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fast-forward past my silent treatment to like 20 mins later when I realized how dumb the whole thing was an apologizing for freaking out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moral of the story?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Don\u2019t throw your husband into an inescapable trap. The poor guy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
